Overview:
Google Slides is a web-based presentation application that allows you to create and share slide show presentations.
Pros:
Making a slide show presentation is a snap with Google Slides. As their download page boasts, put together a shiny 6-slider for quick info or a 600-page slidefest that is sure to wow your audience.
Perhaps the best feature is that you can share your slides with anyone else that has a Google account, so collaboration and quick edits are easy. Otherwise the features are fairly basic, yet functional. Choose from a number of pre-designed themes, fonts, and images to spice up your presentations.
Additionally, you can upload, view, and share slide show presentations in other formats (ahem, PowerPoint). Despite some minor formatting issues, the main content is still there, and can be edited if a last minute change is needed.

Cons:
If you really want to wow your audience with fancy transitions and animations (or if you actually need them to illustrate your point), Google Slides isn’t going to be able to serve your needs. In addition, the fonts, styles, and themes are limited, and there is less ability for customization.
And while it is nice to have the option to upload pre-existing slide show presentations, a lot of the content does come out skewed and your animations will not work. Also, you are capped at 10MB, so that can really limit the types of presentations you can upload.

For slide show presentations, PowerPoint is still king. Google Slides is an acceptable (read: FREE) substitute for simple, no-frills presentations. Its best feature is the ability to share and collaborate with others because you reduce the amount of time and emails going back and forth to figure things out.

If I needed to create a slide show presentation that involved multiple collaborators, I would use Google Slides to get the content to everyone’s liking. Then I would employ Microsoft PowerPoint to create a shiny, fancy presentation.
Google Slides makes your ideas shine with a variety of presentation themes, thousands of fonts, embedded video, animations, and more. All for free.
